Thermal transfer ribbons are the ribbons of thermo transfer label printers. The ribbon consists of a transparent synthetic carrier. The printable side is coated with a fusible color, the backside is coated with a sliding layer. While printing the ribbon is moving along with the label feeder and is heated up partially through the thermo pressure strip and transfers the melted color on the label. There are 3 different basic qualities:

Wax coating for standard applications on paper and cardboard

Wax/resin coating for wiping resistant applications on paper, cardboard and synthetic materials

Resin coating for scratch-resistant applications on synthetic materials
Each of this main groups has diverse qualities, which differ in print-blacking, melting temperature, print velocity, performance on label surface, diverse resistances, behaviour inside the used printer etc. The adequate transfer ribbon for each application you will receive from bb transactions, in cases of doubt some sample prints should be accomplished. In addition to the standard black color many different colors as well as white, gold and silver in different qualities are available.
